You know how to lift.

But when 90%+ is on the bar, everything gets different.

The Greek Program is a 6+ weeks Olympic Weightlifting system built around frequent heavy exposure, technical consistency and daily performance.

Inspired by publicly available training principles associated with the Greek Dream Team era of 1992 - 2004 and adapted for today's weightlifter.

THE GREEK APPROACH

THE GREEK APPROACH

Christos Iakovou was the legendary coach behind Greece’s Weightlifting Dream Team.

The training system associated with his team emphasized:

  • CLASSIC LIFTS
  • SQUATS
  • HEAVY WORK
  • TESTING
  • ADJUSTMENT

Training was organized into structured high intensity cycles rather than random maxing.

The Greek Program takes these available principles and adapts them into a modern, repeatable system.

TRAIN FOR YOUR 100%

TRAIN FOR YOUR 100%

Not your lifetime PR.

Your 100% is what you can successfully lift today.

The program exposes you to heavy Snatch, Clean & Jerk and Squat work - while allowing you to adjust loads when today's performance doesn't match the plan.

Push when you're ready.

Adjust when you're not.

BUILT TO PERFORM WHEN IT GETS HEAVY

Train 90%+ with structure, confidence, and control.

NOT YOUR TYPICAL PROGRAM

NOT YOUR TYPICAL PROGRAM

Most programs slowly build toward one heavy day.

The Greek approach is different.

You meet heavy weights throughout the cycle:

  • You lift
  • You see how you perform
  • You adjust
  • You come back and do it again

By the end, when 90%+ is on the bar, it doesn't feel like unknown territory. You are ready for it.

GREEK-INSPIRED. OLYMPIAN-BUILT.

GREEK-INSPIRED. OLYMPIAN-BUILT.

I had the opportunity to meet Pyrros Dimas and Kakhi Kakhniashvili. Two legendary athletes from one of Greece’s greatest periods in Olympic weightlifting.

Their era inspired me to look deeper into the publicly documented training principles associated with Greek weightlifting at the time.

I combined those principles with 20+ years of my own experience as an athlete and coach to reinterpret the Greek Program.

This is not the original Greek team program. It’s a modern system inspired by its principles.

FROM ATHLETE TO COACHING

After successfully winning the London Olympics in 2012, I decided to devote myself to coaching and share my experience with athletes who are interested in lifting heavy weights correctly and safely.

My best competition results are:

  • 200 kg in Snatch (video)
  • 240 kg in Clean & Jerk (video)

HOSTED OVER 300 SEMINARS WORLDWIDE

HOSTED OVER 300 SEMINARS WORLDWIDE

I’ve been hosting seminars for ten years now, and teaching athletes from all around the world.

I've had a hand in guiding over 10,000 athletes on their weightlifting journey.

It's an honor to be able do this!

FAQ

Is the Greek Program suitable for beginners?

No. The Greek Program is designed for experienced Olympic weightlifters who already have established Snatch and Clean & Jerk technique. Because it includes frequent exposure to heavy percentages, you should already have a solid technical and strength base.

How long is the Greek Program?

The main training system follows a repeatable 3+1 structure:

  • Week 1 — Setting Loads
  • Week 2 — Consolidation
  • Week 3 — Improvement
  • Week 4 — Deload & Test

It also includes a Transition Block and a dedicated 10-day competition taper.

The program recommends approximately 6–7 months before evaluating its full effect.

How many days per week will I train?

The program is structured around 5 training days per week, combining competition lifts, squats, pulls, power/hang variations and technical work.

Do I really have to lift 90–100% regularly?

Yes, heavy exposure is one of the key principles — but 100% does not automatically mean your lifetime PR. Your daily 100% is the best successful lift you can perform under your current training conditions.

What if I’m having a bad training day?

Adjust the load. The program uses autoregulation rather than asking you to blindly force a predetermined number. Fatigue, technique, recovery and readiness should influence how heavy you go that day.

What numbers should I use when starting?

Start with your current performance, not automatically your lifetime PRs. If you’re returning after a break, competition, illness, travel or reduced training, use the Transition Period to establish your current working numbers first.

Does the program include technical work?

Yes. Technical work is built into the system at lighter loads, often up to approximately 50–60%. You can focus on the Snatch, Clean or Jerk that currently needs the most improvement.

Can I use the Greek Program to prepare for competition?

Yes. The program includes a dedicated 10-day competition taper. Your final major max-out is planned 10 days before competition, followed by a reduction in training demands so you can recover, stay sharp and prepare for the platform.

How long do I have access to this program?

How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to the squat program for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.

What equipment is needed?

  • Olympic barbell
  • bumper plates
  • squat rack
  • PVC pipe
  • weightlifting straps
  • collars
  • GHD
  • basic mobility tools
